Single Parents Balancing Work and Family Introduction A single parent is an individual who shoulders most or all of the day-to-day responsibilities for raising a child or children (Wikipedia). A single parent not only has to care for their children but also has to have a way to provide for them. Single parents have double the duty because they have to work in order to provide for their children and have to be their parents and raise them, all by themselves without the help of a partner. Balancing work and life is a challenge for a single parent.
